Tufjord Havoysund

Tufjord Havoysund

71° North! Halibut Heaven!

Worldsbestfishingtrips.com presents this absolute top location in northern Norway. This is the absolute mecca for Norway lovers in the middle of the fishing area with short sailings to the best fishing spots! Tufjord is located on the island of Rolvsøya right next to the island of Havøysund. The big advantage is that you don't have to sail long distances here every day, but that you can fish right in the middle of one of the best fishing areas of Northern Norway.

The region is known for the large amount of fish, especially halibut. There are many platforms here which, in combination with the large tidal differences, provide ideal conditions for halibut. Every year, several halibut over 2 meters are caught here. But coalfish, wolffish and cod are also particularly well represented here. Certainly also because the island is surrounded by plateaus that are ideal for halibut but further off the coast there are perfect drop offs where the cod and coalfish like to stay in large shoals. For those who love large schools of plaice it is also worthwhile to visit Trollvika bay with its sandy bottom and actively chase these magnificent fish.

From the base in Tufjord it is also possible to sail west to the Tubaen plateau. This plateau rises from the depths out of nowhere and acts as a magnet for fish. Here you can go if the weather is good. Of course there is also the Trollsund. This narrow passage separates the island of Rolvsoya from Ingsoya and is from 6 to 40 meters deep. Many halibut are caught here. Especially during the big differences between low and high tide it is full of crabs, sand eel, small coalfish and much more bait. A group of three men caught 30 halibut here in three days.

In the northern part of Ingsoya, on the small island of Fruholmen, is the northernmost lighthouse in Europe. For those who have fished in this location know that you will never forget this place and its overwhelming nature. It is also very well possible to descend south and fish around Skipsholmen and Austergrunnen. These locations are difficult to reach from Havoysund and therefore are almost exclusively fished by the guests staying in Tufjord. But also north of Havoysund the Akkarfjord and the Kjerkenesgrunnen are waiting for you. All in all, this is the dreamed fishing area where the sailing times are short because you are in the middle of the best fishing spots.

No hustle with a lot of other anglers but beautiful apartments with views over the fjord, good boats and the very best fishing! And that for reasonable costs compared to other top locations in northern Norway.
