Nile perch. An epic fish in an epic location and ditto river. Murchison Falls in Uganda. During our pilot trip, we didn't have the best conditions with very high water. The Nile had stepped far beyond the regular shores, so it was also looking for the fish, but with the help of our guide Stanley we managed to do just that.
The largest specimen was around 40 kilos and Tom was able to catch quite a few Nile perches with shad both from the side and from the boat. In total, we caught 17. In addition, we also caught some Sudanese catfish and every day we caught Tilapias as bait fish. But what made this fishing trip very special was the abundant fauna in the immediate vicinity of the Nile. Giraffes, elephants, crocodiles, hippos, ospreys, monkeys and so on. And all from the boat you're fishing with. That is a very special extra dimension that we have experienced here. Particularly impressive.
We stayed in luxurious jungle tents right on the Nile. Equipped with two single beds and a private shower / toilet, this made it a perfect location to stay. In the evening, we were even taken to our tent by the staff because sometimes hippos came onto the grounds to graze on the fresh grass. All in all, beautiful fishing, beautiful nature, nice people and an epic setting. What else do you want? We really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. Check all the details of this fishing trip HERE.
