Frequently asked questions
Before departure
Travel documents
1
Make sure you check your own border documents properly before you leave. For most European countries a personal ID is sufficient. But ensure yourself that that this is the case. For Norway, for example, an ID certificate is sufficient, but not for the United Kingdom a personal ID is not sufficient. Are you in doubt? Please contact us and we will sort it out for you.

With a passport you can travel to any country in the world. However, for some countries the passport has to be valid for several months from the day of return. So an extra check can be very convenient.

Be on time with this! If you need to apply for a new passport or ID card, it might take several days in order to get a new one. If you act on this too late, the journey may be affected by this or in worst case can even be cancelled. This is your own responsibility!

The same applies for visas. For countries like America, Canada, Cape Verde, India and so on there are different visa regulations. The visas must therefore also be arranged well in advance. It goes without saying that we are happy to help and give tips tailored to the country of destination. But please note: It remains the traveller's own responsibility to have all border documents in order.
Vaccination and health
2
For warmer destinations, it is sometimes necessary to be vaccinated. This may be for simple things such as diphtheria, tetanus and polio, but sometimes also for rabies or malaria prophylaxis. There are various online options for determining whether or not you need vaccination.

Personally I always contact my general practitioner who can determine besty what I do and do not need for my next fishing trip. Some vaccinations consist of more than one dose, so it is necessary to arrange this on time and not to wait too long.

For the regular health during the fishing trip it is always wise to bring basic medication and medical supplies. Things like sun lotion, plasters, paracetamol, scissors, disinfectant, nasal spray, ORS, diarrhoea inhibitors and more of these basic things are always wise to bring with you on a fishing trip. But also a simple fishing cap, sunglasses and a long-sleeved shirt against the sun are important measures for your own health during the fishing trip.
Money exchange
3
We are regularly asked if you need to bring cash to pay for things on the spot. For more exotic countries like India and Kenya this can be quite useful, but for most countries we advise you to pay by card on the spot. The number of ATMs in the world is so large that this is usually not a problem. You pay the normal exchange rate without extra transaction costs making this the simplest and most economical option. Also, you always land at large airports where these facilities are available. And if you drive a car, you will usually come across them on the way to your location.

For Norway I never carry cash with me because they always accept a credit card or debit card everywhere. The most commonly used and accepted is the credit card. If you take your debit card with you it is also advisable to check before departure if you can use it abroad.

If you are going to the warmer countries it is wise to carry small denominations of local currency or US dollars with you. If you have to give a tip, the smaller banknotes are the easiest way to do so.
Insurances
4
If you are going on a fishing trip, we strongly advise you to have your insurances sorted out.

1. Travel guarantee.

We automatically include this insurance when you book a package holiday with us (consisting of multiple items; flight, accommodation, boat and tranfer or rental car). The costs for this are € 9,- per person. This travel guarantee is for the protection of the customer and offers protection in the event of an unexpected bankruptcy of our company. Should we go bankrupt, you will always get your money back from your fishing trip. This insurance is obligatory for all professional travelagents.

2. Travel and accident insurance.

This insurance offers protection against inconveniences such as physical damage, theft and material damage during the fishing trip. So, if you break your leg or a fishing rod. With this insurance you can get (partial) compensation for this. The exact conditions will then be stated in the policy conditions. PLEASE NOTE: Depending on your own health insurance this insurance is highly recommended. It can also cover any medical costs for treatment abroad. There are quite a few health insurances that do not or only partially reimburse (emergency) treatment abroad. It is therefore wise to check in advance with your own health insurance company whether medical treatment abroad will be compensated.

3. Cancellation insurance.

This insurance offers protection against unwanted cancellation of the trip. In case of illness of a family member, death or own illness, the trip can often not take place and it depends on the moment of cancellation whether and how much money you get back. With this insurance you will get a full refund if you meet the conditions. PLEASE NOTE. This insurance must be booked as soon as possible, but no later than 7 workingdays after booking the trip. For cancellations we apply our general terms & conditions.

Do you already have annual travel and/or cancellation insurance? If so, it is important to check the terms and conditions carefully. This type of insurance often offers only limited coverage, and it is advisable to temporarily increase your coverage before departure.
How does it work?
Website, quotation and confirmation
1
The website works like a regular online shop. You can add different locations to your favourites list using the ‘favourite’ button. This makes it easy to find them again later and take your time to review and compare them. When you have finished ‘shopping’, you can request a quotation for your desired fishing trip/zen from your favourites list. To do so, fill in the ‘wizard’ and we will get to work for you.

You will then receive a quotation from us by e-mail. You can view this quote online and also easily approve it online. You will then receive an automated confirmation form to fill in. Once you have completed it, you can send it and your booking will be confirmed. The invoicing process will then start and you will receive the first invoice for the deposit by email and the final invoice automatically 8 weeks before departure.

If the quote needs to be adjusted, you can send us an e-mail (mail@worldsbestfishinghtrips.coml) and provide additional information to have the quote adjusted as desired.

Once the final invoice has been paid, you will receive an e-mail from us 2 to 3 weeks before departure with a link to download your travel documents. If you then still have any questions, you can always call or email us. Please note: Once you have received your travel documents, it is important to check them as soon as possible. If any changes need to be made, please let us know as soon as possible.
Can I book parts of the trip myself?
2
Sometimes we get the request whether guests are allowed to book the plane ticket or ferry or other items. Our approach is simple: "The fishing trip should be as the guest wants it to be". So if, for example, a guest has a family member working with an airline and can therefore book for less money? Or if they have special arrangements with a car rental company through work? Do it yourself. So you can book certain parts of your fishing trip yourself without any problems.

However, those parts that are not booked with us are not covered by the travel guarantee. Some guests think they are cheaper by booking a plane ticket online for a lower price. However, if you book everything with us in one booking, everything is also covered by the travel guarantee. If something goes wrong then we can and we also have to help you with that. We then have access to networks that the guest often does not have and can offer better and faster support.
How are the prices calculated?
3
The prices of our trips as mentioned on the website are based on a optimal occupancy of the property / boat in the cheapest period and do not include ferry, flights, transfers or rental cars. It is therefore the most costfriendly option and the lowest possible price. If you go to the location in the high season with 3 instead of 4 people, the price per person is higher than mentioned on the website. Add to this the cost of the flights or transport. Because the costs for flights and ferries vary due to the date they are booked, we leave them out.

If you request a quotation with a desired date, we will send you a detailed quotation and you will know exactly what the cost will be and what is included and excluded. No strings attached and free of charge. In the end, all our trips are custom made and it is difficult to put an exact price on them right away. For practically all locations in Norway, the prices are listed at the bottom of the webpage of the relevant locations so that you can easily estimate that yourself.
Payment and travel documents
4
After you have completed the booking form, you will receive a first invoice for deposit by e-mail. This consists of 100% of our direct costs for rental cars, ferry crossings and/or flights + 25% of the remaining amount.

Eight weeks before departure you will automatically receive the final invoice for the remaining amount by e-mail. After the full amount has been paid you will receive the travel documents which you can download online.
At the location
Problems on site
1
If a situation arises at the location that you do not agree with, or that you consider to be incorrect, please contact the local contact person directly. Do not wait until you are back home and only then report it to us. At that moment the situation is over and can no longer be solved.

Immediately start the conversation with the local contact person and indicate what is going on and why you disagree. If you can not find a solution together, you can call or e-mail us directly and we will directly intervene. It can also be useful to take pictures or film of a possible incident or situation.
Catch & Release preferred
2
We are fishermen ourselves and we want to put back as many fish as possible. But there is absolutely nothing wrong with eating a fish once in a while that you catch yourself. We also take fish back once in a while at the tropical locations to be prepared in the local restaurant in the evening. It is wise to first ask if that is possible. Not all restaurants want that. But fresh tuna, wahoo or mahi mahi is a real treat! And when we are in Norway we sometimes take cod and halibut home with us. But not more than the local laws allow us to. In Norway you are allowed to take home 15 kilos of fish fillet per person in 2026. As of 2027 that number is 10 kilo fillet of fish per person.

Think carefully in advance whether or not you want to take fish home with you. For example, if you go fishing for ling, redfish or lump, these species cannot be returned once you have caught them. These species will then ensure that your quota will be reached quickly. And if you also want to bring cod, coalfish or halibut, it is wise to stop fishing for the bottom species like ling etc. as they can not be returned alive to the sea.

Sometimes we also hear that at the last minute a nice special fish is caught and taken home. Then eventually other fish, already caught and filleted, is left behind. The local people however can not do anything with this and this fish which is then almost always destroyed. So think carefully in advance about which fish you want to take with you. And there is no better moment than to let a fish swim away after you have taken a nice picture of it.

Have you been to all locations personally?
2
No, I have not personally been everywhere myself. I just can not do that anymore. We have too many locations and work for that. But we do send people from our own network to the locations if we can not go there ourselves. So there has always been someone from our network to check out the location, test it and make appointments with our local partners.

With an average of 8 to 10 fishing trips per year for the last 20 years, we now have an enormous experience. We like to share this knowledge and experience personally during the group trips that we accompany ourselves and where we personally act as a tourleader on all the boats and support the guests as much as possible. But also by appointment to discuss your desired or booked fishing trip in advance.
Our philosophy
3
Our philosophy is simple: The fishing trip should be as the customer would like it!

We have an open communication and try to solve any problems directly and as quickly as possible for our guests. Even if the problem was not caused by us. Of course sometimes something goes wrong during, before or after the fishing trip. But we try to solve the problems as well and as quickly as possible in consultation with the guest. Luckily we do not have to deal with this very often.

We have an open, honest and personal communication which is appreciated by our guests. After all, we are only people and we do our utmost to help our guests as much as possible.
