Fishing

Korsfjorden is an excellent destination for anglers looking to combine comfort and space with direct access to the rugged waters around Alta. The location is about an hour’s drive from Alta and provides a superb base for fishing both Korsfjorden itself and the surrounding straits. The house is close to the sea and the boats are moored at a floating jetty just a short walk away, so fishing days can start quickly and efficiently.

One of the major advantages of this destination is its position between several attractive fishing areas. From Korsfjorden you can reach Stjernsundet, Vargsundet and Rognsundet, among others. These waters offer a varied mix of current, depth, drop-offs and shelter. This allows you to adapt your fishing to wind direction, tide and the experience of your group. On calm days you can search more actively along edges, plateaus and deeper water, while in stronger winds there are often still good options in the more sheltered parts of the fjord system.

For sea anglers, Korsfjorden is all about the practical combination of short boat runs, rich northern waters and serious fishing potential. The Alta region is known for clear, cold water where baitfish, current and structure come together. This creates excellent opportunities for species such as cod, coalfish, halibut, redfish, haddock and ling. No two fishing days are the same: conditions determine whether you fish vertically, drift over drop-offs, work shads or search the water column for actively feeding coalfish.
Cod

Cod is one of the main target species in this region. In these colder northern waters, cod can be present throughout the year, with particularly good chances around deeper edges, plateaus and areas where food concentrates. For groups that enjoy active fishing, cod is accessible yet exciting: you can target them with pirks, shads and natural bait, using anything from relatively light tackle to heavier gear depending on depth and conditions.
Coalfish

Coalfish provide fast, sporting action and are especially interesting when schools of baitfish are present. They often hunt higher in the water column and reward an active approach. Fast retrieves, casting shads or vertical jigging above structure can produce explosive strikes. For anglers who enjoy power, speed and long runs, coalfish are a major highlight of northern fjord fishing.
Halibut

Halibut are the dream fish for many anglers travelling to Northern Norway. The waters around Korsfjorden offer excellent potential thanks to the mix of straits, drop-offs and channels. Targeting halibut requires patience, dependable tackle and a good understanding of drift and bottom structure. Large shads, dead baitfish and controlled drifts are techniques that suit this type of water particularly well.
Redfish, ling and other species

In addition to the better-known target species, the area also offers opportunities for deeper fishing for redfish and ling. This usually requires heavier tackle and closer attention to depth, bottom contours and drift. For groups looking for variety, this is a real advantage: you can spend part of the day searching shallower water for cod and coalfish, then move deeper when conditions allow to target species holding along steep edges and hard bottom.
Freshwater fishing and nature

Korsfjorden is not only a sea-fishing destination. Several lakes in the surrounding area offer good freshwater fishing opportunities. This makes the location attractive for anglers who would also like to plan a quieter shore-based session during their stay. The mountains surrounding the fjord also provide excellent hiking opportunities, adding another dimension to the trip beyond boat fishing.

Why choose Korsfjorden?

Korsfjorden is particularly well suited to groups looking for plenty of space, peace and independence. You stay in a large house on a small headland with sea views, while the boats are close by and the main fishing areas are easy to reach. The destination feels private and relaxed, yet offers serious fishing opportunities in one of Norway’s northernmost regions. For families, groups of friends and experienced sea anglers, it is an excellent choice when both comfort and fishing potential matter
