Fishing

Aldersund Brygger is located in Helgeland, in Nordland county, right on the waterfront at Aldersundet. The destination combines the charm of a small Norwegian fishing village with an accessible and highly varied fishing area. From your accommodation, you are virtually straight onto the jetty and just a few minutes by boat from the first fishing grounds. This makes Aldersund an excellent choice for anglers who want to maximise their fishing time, as well as families or groups looking for a comfortable base in spectacular fjord scenery.

Most of the sea fishing takes place in Aldersundet. The main fishing grounds are around a five-minute boat ride from the sea houses. The area features underwater banks, small islands, drop-offs and depths of up to approximately 150 metres. This variety lends itself to a wide range of techniques: pilking for cod and coalfish, fishing shads and softbaits along drop-offs, targeting ling and tusk in deeper water, and drifting across plateaus where halibut may be hunting.
Aldersund’s real strength is its variety. The fjord offers shelter when the wind is less favourable, while experienced skippers can head farther towards open water in good conditions. Fishing charts available at the accommodation show marked fishing spots, giving guests a quick and practical overview of productive banks, deeper water and local hotspots. This is a major advantage, especially for anglers boating in Northern Norway for the first time.
Cod is one of the main target species. Fishing can be highly productive in spring and early summer, with both smaller schooling fish and larger specimens on the cards. Pilkers, shads and large softbaits can all be very effective along the edges of banks, current seams and transition zones between shallow and deeper water.

Coalfish provide fast-paced sport in Aldersundet. These powerful predators often hunt around drop-offs and throughout the water column. Find schools of baitfish and you can expect explosive action on pilkers, speed jigs and slim-profile shads. For many anglers, this is one of the most exciting styles of fishing Norway has to offer, as coalfish fight incredibly hard and often hunt in packs.

The area also offers good opportunities for haddock, redfish, ling and tusk. Haddock are often found over sandy or mixed ground, while ling and tusk are generally targeted on deeper marks with harder bottom structure. Redfish usually require a more specialised approach in deeper water, using slowly presented natural baits or lures. It is precisely this mix that makes Aldersund ideal for anglers who want more than a single target species.

Halibut are another genuine possibility. The combination of plateaus, drop-offs, current and deeper water makes the area well suited to drift fishing with large shads or natural bait. Halibut fishing requires patience, but Aldersund has all the right ingredients: accessible water, structure, changes in depth and plenty of room to work a variety of marks.

A major advantage of Aldersund is that the fishing is not limited to the sea. There are also freshwater opportunities nearby, including fishing for trout and even salmon. The Bratlandelva is approximately 20 kilometres away and offers fishing for smaller salmon and sea trout with day permits. This makes Aldersund a great option for anglers who want a change of pace for a day, or for travelling companions who prefer lighter fishing on rivers and lakes.
The region also has plenty to offer non-angling companions. Helgeland is renowned for its rugged coastline, mountains, hiking trails and the nearby Svartisen glacier. Away from the fishing, you can hike in the mountains, explore the coastline or simply enjoy the view from the terrace. In summer, the midnight sun and long hours of daylight give you tremendous flexibility when planning your fishing sessions.

Why choose Aldersund Brygger?

Aldersund Brygger is particularly well suited to anglers looking for a practical, comfortable and versatile destination. The first fishing grounds are close by, the boats are moored directly at or near the accommodation, and the fishing area offers both sheltered fjord fishing and the option to head towards more open water in good weather. This allows you to make the most of every fishing day and adapt quickly to changes in wind, current or tide.
The combination of sea and freshwater fishing is another feature that sets Aldersund apart. Many Norwegian destinations focus exclusively on sea fishing, but here you can add trout, sea trout and salmon fishing to your trip. That is a real bonus for groups with different fishing preferences. Add the spacious accommodation, short distances, good filleting facilities and the magnificent Helgeland scenery, and you have a destination that delivers both serious fishing and genuine comfort.
