Sheltered fishing in middle of Norway
Skarnsundet is one of the most famous fishing locations in Norway. In the northern part of the Trondheimfjord lies this completely sheltered top spot. Here you will find all kinds of fishing you can think of.
Shore fishing is very good here, especially in winter with a large variety of spots..
Sea fishing from the boat. Ling to size no less than 76 lbs (!) is caught here and the amount of species goes to the 40 where you can both with light material on half or shallow water and with 20 lbs material at greater depths.

In the immediate vicinity of Skarnsundet lies the “sundet” itself. This is the second strongest flowing tidal current in Norway and brings in large amounts of nourishment and therefore also predators. They stand in the current and quietly wait for a suitable meal to pass and then strike mercilessly. Fish are always gathering here. Cod, ling, coalfish, halibut, pollack, but also redfish, wolffish, sea trout, haddock, various shark species and so on. You'll find it all here.
With regard to the fishing From the point of view of fishing, this region offers very good conditions for successful fishing. The varied natural bottom structure is also preserved under water and thus offers top spots for fishing. Another important fact is that this location is very sheltered in the fjord. So even in bad weather you can almost always fish here. Besides the Straumen itself there are many different spots where you can go fishing. There are also many large fish that are caught here from the shore. In winter, this is a popular destination among anglers where large young cod up to 15 (!) pounds are caught from the shore. This is a very varied and also challenging location where you can bring and use all your rods and you will certainly not get bored.
