The illustrious lakes like the Sneekermeer, Heegermeer, Tjeukermeer, Slotermeer, Paterswoldemeer, Schildmeer but also national park the Weerribben. And how about the Ketelmeer and Veluwemeer. All top locations where many pike are caught every year and many personal records are improved for perch, pike and zander. Althoiugh the Netherlands is a small country we have extremely good fishing and a lot of lakes and rivers to do just that.

Fishing can take place in any way you like. Drop shots, fireball dead bait, trolling with crankbaits or throwing with jerkbaits. But don't forget the shads, pelagic and dead bait assembly. All effective ways to chase the present predators to the scales.

Here we offer a complete fishing trip for the enthusiasts. You have a choice of three possibilities:

The optimal composition of your fishing trip is of course to go with the fishing guide every day, but if your budget does not allow that, it is wise to book two days of the fishing guide to optimize the different techniques and to familiarize yourself with the local waters. After that you can go on your own with the rental boat. The choice is entirely up to you.

In the province of Friesland, De Mariahoeve is located on the outskirts of the village of Terherne. This village is situated in the middle of the Sneekermeer and the B&B Mariahoeve therefore directly at the fishing spots. Throughout the year De Mariahoeve is open for everyone who wants a carefree week or weekend away; holidaymakers, water sports enthusiasts, motorcyclists, cyclists and hikers. But when the best fishing season for pike and zander comes along this is the place to be for fishermen. From October till April 1st (when the season closes for pike, zander and perch) you can enjoy the wonderful surroundings and the traditional Frisian landscape as can only be experienced here.

Spending the night is more than just spending the night and getting a few sandwiches for breakfast. At De Mariahoeve you can sleep on comfortable box-spring beds with warm pillows. You can have a nice and extensive breakfast every morning, no fixed breakfast times, but in consultation with you the breakfast time is set. So breakfast at 7 o'clock is no problem; breakfast at 10 o'clock is also possible...De Mariahoeve takes pleasure in personally welcoming its guests and making them feel at home. The Mariahoeve is located on the outskirts of Terherne, about a five-minute walk to the centre where you will be surprised by as many as 13 different catering establishments. From a real Greek to restaurants to village cafes. Something for everyone. From Easter to the autumn holidays there is also a supermarket that is open seven days a week.

The Mariahoeve has five rooms on the ground floor which you can book all year round to stay overnight. All rooms have the following facilities:

There are plenty of cycling and walking paths and renting a bike is also possible in Terherne. The province of Friesland is mainly seen as a peaceful and authentic region, with a strong culture of its own. People who have already visited Friesland have an even more positive image of Friesland and come back in high numbers.

The most frequently mentioned associations with Friesland are the Frisian language and the Elfstedentocht. There is also a link with water, nature and ice skating. It is a province that many people would like to visit again. The landscape and the cycling and walking possibilities are highly appreciated. Of course, all guests can use the lightning fast internet for free. The WIFI code will be given to you upon arrival and you can use the internet unlimitedly. Snooping around where there is still something fun to do on the Friesland agenda or at Beleef Friesland sites is possible.

Guide boat

The fishing guide Herman Schuurman has a Tomasco Predator of five meters twenty propelled by a new 100 HP Honda outboard engine. There is room for three guests. This combination gets regular maintenance and is inspected every year. Two Minn Kota electric motors, one front and one rear, make it possible to fish well in all circumstances. For pelagic fishing the Garmin 8412 with lifescope is perfect. The Lowrance HDS Life 12 completes this set.

As a guest you do not have to bring any equipment with you. Everything is on board. These are all materials from Shimano like Zodias, Yasei, Lesath, Expride, Poison adrena rods. These in combination with reels like: Stradic, Aldebaran, ConQuest, Tranx, Vanquist and Stella offer the highest level. Of course you can also fish with your own gear.

The only thing you have to bring is a a good sense of humor, good clothing and a photo device or phone to be able to capture the successes of the day. The fishing guide can take up to 3 guests on the boat. If the group consists of more than 3 guests we will arrange an additional fishing guide with similar specifications. So even with 4 or 6 people for this trip can be easily arranged.

Rental boats.

From the location where you are staying you can start with two types of fishing boats.

Option 1. The Marcraft

The Marcraft fishing boat is mostly rented by predator anglers, but some whitefish anglers also appreciate the luxury of the Marcraft fishing boat. In Terherne, directly on the Sneekermeer, these fishing boats are waiting for you all year round. There are two boats and the boats are rented per whole day, but several days is also possible of course.

The boat is suitable for a maximum of 3 persons. Standard there are two seats mounted and on request and a small extra charge is a third seat available. Have you never driven a boat before? No problem. The owner takes the time to explain everything to you. He explains in detail how the Marcraft fishing boats work, what and where the current fish catches are best. The fish that are caught from the Marcraft fishing boats are: pike, zander and perch. And a boating licence is not necessary!

Option 2: Steel fishing boat

This boat is easy to operate (no boating license required) and has a 6 hp outboard engine. At the beginning of the rental day you will receive a thorough explanation. The boat is equipped with 6 fenders and 2 mooring lines.

Fuel, watermap and explanation
You will be given 12 litres of fuel with the steel boat. This is more than enough for one day. Afterwards, the consumption, which is usually only a few euros due to the economical engines, has to be settled with the renter. You will also receive a water map and an explanation of the boat with the best fishing possibilities.

The boats come with a local water card and can be rented from the age of 18 years and older and a boating license is not required.

For our foreign guests we provide the flight to Amsterdam together with a suitable rental car that allows you to drive relaxed through the Dutch landscape to Friesland. Of course it is also possible to drive with your own tcar to Terherne yourself.

Assuming 2 persons, stay in a double room in the B&B Mariahoeve including breakfast, daily packed lunch, 2 days fishing guide and 4 days Marcraft rental boat plus rental car, the costs are around 2500 euros and therefore 1250 euros per person. Additional costs are flights, dinners, drinks, fuel for rental car and boat and tip.
