This fishing camp is situated on the top of the peninsula in the fjord and all the houses have a magnificent view over the water. To be precise, it is located 20 kilometers north of Hitra and at the tip of the Fosen peninsula, directly at the mouth of the Trondheimfjord. At this location the Trondheimfjord is connected to the open sea.
It is precisely at this point that the tidal currents create a large supply of food and baitfish. In addition, have a look at the great variety in underwater structures and you have a perfect fishing location that is also sheltered behind the islands of Hitra and Froya. The chance that you can't fish for a day due to the weather is very small.
Fosen itself is a varied peninsula with on the coast many small islets and more inland the moors and forests and back to the fjords on the other side of the island. This beautiful and fertile landscape is also home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. It is therefore not surprising that the oldest traces of human habitation in Norway have been found at this location. These are more than 11,000 years old and confirm the favourable and pleasant location of this island.
The underwater structures range here within a radius of 10 kilometres from 400 metres in the Trondheimsleia to platforms of 20 to 30 metres in Sandholmen. You will find all kinds of fish here that you wish for. Cod, halibut, ling, coalfish, wolffish, redfish, haddock, plaice, dab, pollack and so on. Don't forget to bring spoons in the spring and autumn to attack the sea trout that are regularly caught here.
This location makes it possible to fish in a varied and challenging way. One moment you are fishing with shads and a 50 gram spinning rod to catch a pollock off an island and 10 minutes later you can catch another ling or cod from a depth of 120 meters with your 20 lbs boat rod. It is this diversity that appeals to many guests and makes them return annually. The variation in bottom structure together with the tidal differences makes this a top destination.
The boats are made of polyester and 5.3 meters long. They are equipped with 25 or 30 HP engines and have a central steering unit. They also have a combi GPS plotter and fishfinder from Humminbird. The obligatory life jackets are of course also available and all in all you have a perfect fishing boat for this sheltered location for up to 4 people per boat. In total there are 9 boats available.
