Techniques:
- Casting: The thrill of seeing a lure explode on the surface under the attack of a jack or a barracuda remains engraved forever. Each cast can trigger a sudden strike.
- Jigging (vertical jigging & light jigging)
- Classic jigging: dropping a jig into the depths, working it and waiting for the brutal strike of a red snapper, a cobia or an otolith: adrenaline guaranteed.
- Light jigging: with lighter gear and mini jigs, you can surprise real monsters: red snappers, jacks, cobias or otoliths. The contrast between the finesse of the equipment and the power of the fish offers unforgettable fights, where every second is pure adrenaline.
- Bait fishing. Perfect for exploring estuaries and lagoons, it allows you to vary targets and chain catches, from snapper to cobia, via otolith. A convivial and often very productive technique.
- Live bait fishing. The oldest, the simplest… but always formidable. With a well-presented live bait, you attract the largest predators: massive jacks, giant barracudas, cobias, otoliths or even sharks. Each strike turns into an explosive fight.
- Trolling. The ideal method to track down large moving predators. You never know what monster will strike the lure: a giant barracuda, a massive cobia or an unpredictable leerfish.
- Surfcasting. Set up on a pristine beach facing the Atlantic, you cast a natural bait and… anything can happen. Barracuda, red snapper, cobia, otolith, jack, ray or even a bull shark: each cast is a lottery of thrills.
- Fly fishing. A technical and refined challenge, reserved for the most patient. When a horse-eye jack or a barracuda rushes at a fly in the clear water of the flats, the emotion is indescribable.
In the Bijagós, each fish is a legend. The barracuda for its brutality, the jack for its unfailing combativeness, the leerfish for its spectacular strikes, the red snapper for its bottom power, the cobia for its extraordinary endurance, the otolith for its nobility and intensity, the ray for its oversized weight, and the bull or hammerhead sharks for fights that mark a lifetime. Thanks to the variety of species and possible techniques – from surfcasting where anything can happen to light jigging, the house specialty – the Bijagós establish themselves as the ultimate playground for any sport fisherman in search of pure emotions.
