Sheltered sea fishing in northern Norway
This location can be considered one of the best inshore locations in Norway because it is very sheltered and therefore has little downtime on windy days. Just around the corner from Storekorsnes you can reach Vargnsundet, Stjernsundet, Rognsundet or Aroysundet in no time, where there is a lot of structure in the water so there is always a current. Depths of 20 to 500 meters guarantee this.
This location is opposite the island of Seiland which is located right next to Soroya. All in all leading names when it comes to large fish in which the halibut plays one of the leading roles. But certainly also cod, coalfish, wolffish, haddock and redfish can be found here. All sheltered and on your doorstep!
From July until the end of September the halibuts enter this fjord where they hunt on the shallower parts of the Korsfjord. Literally you can see the halibut shooting through here and sometimes out of the water. And these 30 to 40 pounders are not the largest halibut, but with a suitable medium spinning rod of 100 to 150 grams you can really experience a real feast.
Just 60 kilometres from the airport of Alta is this a beautiful and quiet fishing location. With a large holiday home for up to 10 people and two smaller houses for up to 4 people each. Directly opposite the houses is a short walking distance from the harbour with the filleting area with running water, the freezers and storage for drying the fish clothes.
Here you can also read the story of John Smit of the Dutchanglers who fished at this location.
