Relaxed top guides and great boats with top fishing

Sørøya is the fish mecca of Norway. Would you like to have a chance to catch the biggest cod, halibut, coalfish, redfish, ling or wolffish? Then you have to go to Sørøya! This location offers an overwhelming fishing area with good variation in bottom structures. These ensure that there is a wide range of baitfish and therefore also large predators.

Sørøya is one and a half hours sailing from the mainland of the coast of Finnmark at 70 degrees North latitude. Sørøya is Finnmark's largest island and has impressive nature, several small and large fjords, high mountain peaks and particularly rich fishing grounds. It is a true paradise for nature lovers in general but more specifically for anglers. The location we offer distinguishes itself by the best boats you can find on this island, with which you can still sail and fish safely even when the weather is not so good.

Because not only a lot of fish is caught here, but especially large fish, many anglers consider Sørøya to be the world's best location for sea fishing on both large cod and halibut. It is not surprising that Sørøya in Norway is known as "Stor fiskens rike" which literally means "the land of the hiant fish". Sørøya is known for catching an extremely large amount of cod in the 20+ and 30+ kilo class during skrei season. In fact, professional fishermen regularly catch cod weighing over 40 kilos. There is even record of a fish with a length of 182 cm and 80 kilos that was caught here! The location is fairly sheltered in the bay of Breivikbotn so you have considerably less wind and in combination with the perfect boats you can fish even in less favourable conditions.

This location is and a very cool place to stay and you will find that they offer great service. There are several options for staying here:

Six double rooms with separate WC/shower and a shared kitchen and community rooms
Two apartments each for 4 people with a separate entrance and small sauna
The "neighbouring house" of 85 square meters with four bedrooms for up to 8 people
A four-person house with 3 bedrooms on 300 metres distance from main building

Almost al houses are within 40 meters of the main house and 50 meters from the sea. The boats are about 75 meters from the main entrance. There is a 50 meter long bridge to the jetty and you can easily bring your equipment to the boats. On the long side of the main building you will find the filleting room with freezers and drying room.
There is room for a total of 28 people combined in the six double rooms, 8 beds in the apartments and 8 beds in the neighbouring house. This means we have some very nice options for larger groups, depending on how many you are with.

The double rooms
The basic package includes a fishing boat and two double rooms. The rooms are comfortable and have their own toilet and shower with underfloor heating. Bed linen, towels, toilet paper, soap and final cleaning are included in the price. There are a total of six double rooms in the main building. A total of 12 people share a well-equipped kitchen, a large living room and a dining room. These rooms are about 200 square meters on the spacious side so there is plenty of space. Our guests appreciate this option because you get to know like-minded people. We plan fishing together and keep in touch at sea via radio. Compared to most other camps, here you have a lot of time with the guides. We are around every day to help, answer questions and talk about fishing. This is probably the main reason why our guests catch so many fish.

It is not a problem if you form a group with five people. In the largest room we will then place an extra bed for € 110,- extra. The room is then a bit smaller than normal but it works fine. These rooms are also ideal for larger groups of 10 to 12 people. You then have your own six bedrooms and 200 square meters to yourself.

The apartments
On the long side of the main building, two four-bedroom apartments both with separate entrances have been built. The apartments are compact but cleverly laid out. At 34 m2 you have space for four people in front of the TV which you can connect to via chromecast. There is a small sauna, toilet and shower. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need and a kitchen table where you can eat and of course rig up your fishing gear. There are two bedrooms each containing a spacious Norwegian bunk bed.
The apartments are next to each other with a large door between them. This is locked unless you rent both apartments with a bigger group. Then we can open the door and you have one large apartment for up to 8 people. It is a perfect alternative for groups of 6 to 8 people.

The "neighbouring house"
The house is right next to the main house and is 85 m2 and has a fantastic view. It is about 50 meters from the sea and about 40 meters from the filleting area. The house has plenty of space, a large terrace which is partially covered with glass and four bedrooms with 2 single beds each and there are 2 toilets. The house is rented out with 2 boats.

The four-person house
This house is 300 metres from the main building and pier. With 3 bedrooms, it is just a bit bigger and more spacious than the other houses. Needless to say, it also has its own shower/toilet. A living room with sofa and dining area accompanied by a spacious kitchen that is fully equipped.

Of course there is also a fileting room available with 3 tables and running water and each group has its own freezer.

Groceries can be bought in Hasvik which is a 20 minutes drive away. There is a supermarket that has a wide choice of products and the local guides can bring you tehre for a small charge.

The Northeast Atlantic Ocean is not always reliable and the weather can turn quickly. There is no room for underestimating Mother Nature and the sea. And that is why everything must be in tiptop order such as the boats, communication equipment and advance weather forecasts. But as long as you respect the conditions and follow the local instructions, all will be fine.

They have invested in what they believe are the best boats you can find on the Norwegian coast. There are eight Arronet 23.5 SPT 2 boats available here. These boats are robust and offer a better starting point than the average fishing boat in Norway. The guides keep an eye on the weather forecast and help you plan fishing daily to have a safe and the best fishing experience possible.

The new Arronet have a V – shaped hull and are equipped with 200 HP Yamaha outboard engines . They also have a rubber suspension on the centre console that eliminates almost all noise and shocks. It is a serious advantage over the older version of the Arronet boats. These boats really cut through the waves.

Guide Boat
Many guests visiting this destination choose to go out with the guide throughout the week to maximize the chances of an unforgettable experience. Since there is a clear demand for this, they have decided to purchase a new guide boat starting with the 2024 season. It is an Arronet 30CC with two times 200 HP Yamaha engines and a bow thruster.

This top-of-the-line boat is 9.4 meters long and 2.8 meters wide. That means it can sail over the higher waves with ease. With this boat you sail comfortably, warm and in an almost completely silent wheelhouse. As long as the weather is not too bad, you can drink coffee and listen to some music.

But they did not buy this boat because it is comfortable. They bought it with the goal of catching the most and biggest halibut in Norway year after year. It is a monster at sea and can go far in much rougher conditions than they can now. That means at least doubling the number of fishing days to the best fishing spots. Especially to the fjords on the north side of the island. The engines have electric steering and the boat is equipped with a bow thruster. All three engines are connected and that means they can spot lock (anchor) the boat with the bow towards the wind and optimally fish out certain spots.

The price for the guide boat upgrade including guide on board is NOK 32,000 (€ 3.200,-) for a week or NOK 7000 (€ 700,-) for a day excluding fuel. To be clear, this is in addition to the regular packages with boat and accommodation.

The journey to this location goes from your local airport via Oslo to Alta by plane. From there a rental car is waiting for you and you drive to the ferry at Oksfjord in approximately 2 hours. The ferry takes about an hour and then drops you off in Hasvik on Soroya. From there it is a 30 minute drive to the bay of Breivikbotn where this location is located. Alternatively we can book you a flight to Hasvik but the rates of the tickets to this airport are seriously higher then flying to Alta. The changeover day is on Monday.

For the flights you can choose from Norwegian and SAS and we can arrange two pieces of luggage per person for the flights so you can bring all desired materials. This way you don't have to miss out on anything.

This location is also ideal for fishing for skrei. The season starts here on March 1 and you can go until mid-October where you have a very good chance of catching a real big halibut. It is important that you book in time because there areonly 6 boats available and it is a highly popular destinaton. So do not hesitate too long or your week is fully booked!

The price for accommodation and boat remain the same even with fewer participants.

The price for the guide boat upgrade including guide on board is € 3.895,- for a week (6 days) or € 750,- for a day excluding fuel. To be clear, this is in addition to the regular packages with boat and accommodation. A guide on your own boat costs € 450,- per day and € 2.595,- for 6 fishingdays.
The guide boat has a higher consumption as it has two engines mounted on it. During fishing, 1 engine is sufficient but due to longer trips, it is expected that between NOK 14,000 and 22,000 (€ 1.400,- and € 2.200,-) of fuel will be consumed per week.

A return airport transfer to Hasvik is € 160,- per 4 persons. And that includes an extra ride to the store.
Equipment rental (rod, reel, braid) is € 90,- per person per week.
Fishing suit rental is € 50,- per person per week.
