Skjervoy

Sheltered, topboats and great fishingarea

Centrally located between the islands of Vannøya, Arnøya, Sørøya and also the Lyngen and Kvænagenfjord, this location Skjervoy is a perfect and very strategic location for fishing. Take a look at the sea maps with the different depths, platforms, reefs and drop offs. Here you will not have enough time to fish all the top spots. Too bad of course, but then you can either book two weeks or come back the year after. Because whether you are looking for wolffish, cod, halibut or coalfish here, chances are big that you can make your fishing dream come true.

An important factor for this is the sheltered situation of this location so that we have relatively few lost days due to the weather. This also makes it a perfect location for skrei fishing, which is optimal in March and April. But of course also for the halibut if you consider the end of the season from August to October. In total this location has 5 houses and 8 apartments close to the village of Skjervoy with approximately 2000 inhabitants. The island is connected to the mainland by a bridge so you are not dependent on a ferry and can arrive or depart at any time you want.

Why sail far if the good spots are also close by. Immediately after you leave the port of Skjervoy you are in a true mecca for fishermen. There are few locations in Northern Norway that have similar potential in terms of fishing. Three currents come together here: the Lyngenfjord, the Kvaenangen fjord and the Reisafjord. These fjords carry a lot of food on the tide at the end of the fjord. When you consider that three fjords flow out at this location it is clear that there is a lot of food and therefore also fish. This puts Skjervoy on pole position to deliver large catches.

Spildra is an island that is situated at 12 miles from the harbour. Around this island there is an enormous amount of hotspots. The varied structure produces a lot of currents, making this a perfect spot for cod and coalfish. In the past, several halibut from above two meters have been caught and released here as well. Just around the corner northwest of Skjervoy are two very good wolffish areas. These are the Mauresund and the Rotsund, which in the period from April to the end of June provide excellent wolffish catches here. In addition to the wolffish, large halibut is also caught here with great regularity.

The Skjervoy fishing camp is fully equipped for sea fishermen. The service part is well taken care of with a spacious filleting area and a drying area where the automatic life jackets are also available. In addition, there is plenty of space to store your angling equipment. There is also a large freezer room and a separate room for the petrol stock. The boats are located right next to each other so everything is located close to each other.

The local bank and supermarket are 1.5 kilometres away and the camp is embedded in an impressive natural environment. Add to that the midnight sun, possibly northern lights later in the season, snow-capped mountain peaks, sea eagles and dolphins and sometimes even whales that appear around your boat. And then a big halibut on the line and the picture is complete!

Here is a nice movie from Marcel Schouten who had a great fishing week with his buddies.

The cabins are 50 m2 in surface area and have 2 bedrooms each with 1 single bed and 1 bunk bed. This makes it suitable for up to 6 people. The cosy living room has a dining area, spacious sofa and Wi-Fi. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, oven and stove as well as a dishwasher. Separately there is also a shower with toilet. In total there are 8 cabins available.

In addition, there are 6 apartments. These apartments come in two sizes.

Type 1 is basically the same as the holiday apartments, only the bedrooms each have 2 single beds. These apartments are located in the central building with reception above the holiday homes. From here it is about 250 meters to the boats. There are 4 of these available.

Apartment type 2 is 100 m2 and has 3 bedrooms each with 2 single beds and is therefore suitable for up to 6 people. The houses are situated on the slope opposite the rest of the camp. Also from these apartments it is a 250 meter walk to the boats. Of these, 2 are available.

The apartments also have a living room with dining area, sofa, TV and Wi-Fi. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, oven, stove and dishwasher. Separately there is also a shower with WC.

We have fantastic boats here. You are not going to find better boats than this in Northern Norway.

The 24.5 (!) feet (7.95 meters) Jeanneau Marlin boats are mounted with a 150 HP Yamaha engine with cabin in the middle and walkaround, GPS and fishfinder.

These boats are of the highest quality and have a cabin so you can sail sheltered. At the same time, the boats are walk around so you can fish around the boat and have plenty of space. This makes these boats suitable for up to 6 anglers where we recommend a maximum of 5 people. The boats are equipped with all the necessary safety equipment. There is no gaff on board. You need to bring your own. The fuel for the boats will be provided by the camp itself and you will have to pay at the end of your fishing holiday. You can do this by credit card and of course with cash! On the spot you will receive a good instruction for the correct use of the boats and the best spots of that moment. The boats are perfect for 4 persons but also with 5 or 6 men it is still OK to fish on this boat of almost 8 metres length.
