This is a unique fishing trip combining modern fishing boats and comfortable catamarans. With this concept, you have access to prime and protected fishing areas, daily new spots, and no time wasted sailing to locations. Our local partner in Madagascar is THE specialist in nomadic extreme fishing expeditions, and all your senses will be stimulated on this trip. Stunning nature, overwhelming nights with too many stars, big, beautiful, small, cool, and many more fish. And what about dolphins, whales, turtles, beautiful white beaches?

The catamaran has a double hull, making it particularly stable and safe, ensuring pleasant overnight stays even in moderate wind. At the end of the day, sheltered anchorages are chosen, such as bays, behind islands, or sometimes in a controlled drift as in the western zone and off the coast at the immense Leven Bank. The catamaran is equipped with sails and engines, VHF radio, GPS sounder/chart plotter, first aid kit, life jackets, and a nautical annex. Escape the daily hustle and bustle. No WiFi, just fishing, eating, and tall tales for a whole week! Thanks to a satellite phone, the crew can always make contact if needed. The catamaran staff consists of the captain, chef, and assistant, all dedicated to providing optimal service in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Our partner offers various original fishing trips in a special fishing area, one of the most famous in the world, tailored for lovers of (among others...) popping and jigging: the fantastic northwest of Madagascar, departing from Nosy Bé!

There are two different programs, depending on the weather:
  • The northwest tip of Madagascar, on the large western banks off Nosy Bé (Leven Bank)
  • The south between Radama and Majunga
Fishing at the northwest tip of Madagascar takes place north of Nosy Bé, from the famous Cape Saint Sébastien to the legendary Cape d'Ambre, Courrier Bay, and the always interesting Intermediate Bank.

The southern program explores between the Radama archipelago to the gates of Majunga via Narinda Bay. Here you’ll find the large offshore banks west of Nosy Bé with the immense Leven Bank and its outer edge, where a new world of deep-sea and pelagic fishing awaits.

In both programs, you’ll have the chance to catch the mythical Giant Trevally or "GT", Dogtooth tuna, amberjack, barracuda, kingfish, groupers (including very large specimens), and snappers. And of course, pelagic species like yellowfin tuna, mahi mahi, sailfish, wahoo, and even black marlin may be encountered. The final route depends on the weather forecast for that week, but the northern route is expected.

A large 8-person catamaran is available for this nomadic fishing trip, 44–46 feet with 4 double bedrooms. Two bedrooms are smaller and suitable for one person for comfortable sleeping. The other two are larger and based on two people per room. There’s a bathroom with integrated toilet and shower. In the living area with sofas or on the deck (sun deck), you can enjoy the outdoors after fishing, relax in the sun, or at night observe Madagascar’s impressive stars and prepare your fishing gear.
All cabins are ventilated with portholes. On board, you have access to electricity and fresh water for your sanitary needs. Depending on the catamaran, you may also enjoy a television for viewing your video or photo files, and a sound system for background music.

The boats are equipped with a refrigerator and freezer for cold drinks and food storage. The chef has a gas stove and microwave to prepare delicious meals. Breakfasts, aperitifs, and dinners are served on the catamaran, while lunches are served on the fishing boats as complete lunch packages. Water in bottles is free and included in the full board. Other drinks such as soft drinks, beer, wine, spirits, espresso coffee, etc., are available at extra cost and can be paid on site at the end of your stay.

The quality of the fishing boats is always one of the most important elements for the success of your exotic fishing trip. There are two (almost) identical fishing boats, differing only in the color of the engines.

They have an "open" V-hull with a center console and are made of fiberglass, making them exceptionally robust. They are 10.25 meters long and 2.60 meters wide. There are two clear spaces at the front and back, allowing two guests on each side of the boat to popper, jig, or troll with plenty of room.
The foredeck has a small platform with railing so you can stand high and cast, while the rest of the platform is completely free, as is the spacious aft deck. In total, 4 anglers (2 front and 2 back) can popper easily, and up to 5 can jig. The side decks are perfectly sized for comfortable fishing without bumping knees or being hindered during fishing or fighting fish around the boat.

Each boat is powered by two Suzuki 250 APX engines with a cruising speed of 28 knots and a top speed of 45 knots. No time is lost sailing, giving you more fishing time! Thanks to the combination of design, boat mass, and speed, along with comfortable foam seats, these boats offer unparalleled comfort and safety, even in rough seas.
The cabin has a sanitary area with a toilet, sink, and even a shower, as the boats are equipped with freshwater tanks. Each boat has 32 rod holders: 12 vertical on each side of the center console, 12 angled holders (6 on the T-top), and 8 horizontal (for jigging rods). The angled holders on the T-top are forward to avoid interference when casting from the aft deck.

There are also various storage spaces for your lures and small items, as well as specific coolers under the floor. The coolers store lunch packages and drinks, are equipped with ice and cooling plates, and keep your drinks cold all day. All in all, these are perfect fishing machines that guarantee high quality and safety.

The northwestern trip is best made from October to June, as July to September is usually difficult due to the weather. The southern trip can be made year-round.

There are two climate periods in the Nosy Be region:
  • The "dry" season runs from May to October: temperatures between 25°C and 29°C, rare rain, almost always clear and sunny skies. Between June and September, there may be some wind.
  • The "wet" season runs from November to April: temperatures from 28°C to 32°C (often around 26°C with cloud cover), higher humidity due to rain, which mostly occurs at night as evening storms. Rain rarely lasts more than 2 or 3 hours and seldom during the day.
Most fish species are present and active, especially for surface fishing ('popping').
