Lake Åsnen, in the heart of Småland, is one of Sweden's largest lakes with an area of around 1,000 hectares. The lake has 740 kilometres of coastline and no less than 360 islands. Lake Åsnen is said to be one of Sweden's best fishing lakes, best known for its pike, perch and zander. There is also a large quantity of eel, whitefish such as bream, roach and tench. But also the rainbow trout is present and even carp are caught here. The last one is not easy to catch but they are certainly there. Besides the excellent fishing this region offers peace, space and nature experience. It is a true Eldorado for fishermen, nature and bird lovers. So you are in the middle of one of the best fishing waters of Sweden.

Getno Gard is a private property of 15 km2 with its own peninsula in the middle of the beautiful Asnen lake. Several holiday homes have been built here at a large distance from each other so that all guests can enjoy their peace and quiet and the beautiful nature. There is a central building where the reception annex camp shop where also lost lures or other fishing materials can be replaced.

Fishing starts in April when the last ice has melted and continues until November. Peak periods for pike fishing are in the early and late season. Because the lakes here contain a lot of food and there is a large amount of shallow areas for the fish to spawn, there is a healthy and productive fish stock. Besides the regular lake system there is also a put & take lake where you can fish for rainbow trout for an additional fee.

For fishing, the rules of the Åsnen Fish Conservation Area are followed. This means mainly catch & release and if you still want to take fish it has to be at least 50 centimetres for pike and 45 centimetres for pikeperch minimum and 2 fish maximum per person per day. Per permit you may troll with a maximum of 2 rods. In May it is not allowed to fish for zander. You are also allowed to fish with live bait from this lake. Respect the private property of others and leave it untouched. The fishing license costs 50 euros per week and is per person and non-transferable. It can be ordered in advance and then it will be ready or you can get it on the spot at the reception and pay for it.

At the reception there is also a small angling shop where you can obtain any missing lures but you can also rent bikes, kayaks and canoes. Furthermore, there is a country shop and a pub where you can 'cool down' after a wonderful fishing day while enjoying a beer. They will be happy to be of service to offer you an optimal holiday. It is also possible to book a fishing guide. This will show you the top spots in the region as well as the best bait species of the moment.

If you do not want to prepare your own meals you can also visit the cosy and tasteful restaurant. Larger groups should register in advance. And so you can end a wonderful fishing day perfectly with a delicious meal on the terrace at the lake. Other activities you can do here are canoeing and cycling (for rent), tennis on the private tennis court, pony riding, walking with berry and fruit picking and locally there are several excursions to undertake. They speak English, German and Swedish.

This location has 11 holiday homes where the number of beds varies from 2 to 14 per house. For everyone something we will say. And also larger groups can go here well.

Älgen and Rådjuret
These are typical homes from the Småland region, situated in an overwhelming setting just 150 metres from the reception, camp shop and café. The distance to the fishing boats is about 300 metres. The houses have an area of 40m² and 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and adjustment room. They are modern and fully equipped houses with spacious kitchens and can accommodate up to 6 people. The kitchen has a microwave, refrigerator, freezer, stove, dishwasher and there is a separate bathroom with shower and toilet. The covered terrace is 12m² with garden furniture and BBQ.

Räven, Kronhjorten and Haren
These houses are similar to Älgen and Rådjuret except that they are slightly larger and offer more space. The total area is 46 m2.

Abborrestugan
This is a small idyllic holiday home for up to 3 people. It has a beautiful free location and the distance to the boats is about 300 metres. The house is 25 m2 and has a bedroom with double bed and wood stove, separate shower with toilet, an equipped kitchen with refrigerator and freezer, living room with sofa bed for 1 person. The house also has electric heating.

Gäddstugan
This house is 23 m2, for up to 3 people and is located in a beautiful area. The house is directly connected to Fagelstugan and is therefore ideal for two families or smaller groups who want to stay together. The distance to the boats is about 300 metres and to the reception 200 metres. There is an outside terrace of 10 m2, a completely fitted kitchen and the house has been renovated with wood and there is a wood stove. There is a double bed and a sofa bed, there is electric heating, toilet, shower and sauna. The freezer and sauna are shared with the adjacent Fagelstugan.

Fågelstugan
Built against Gaddstugan and with the same beautiful location and distance to boat and reception. It is 28 m2, a sofa bed in the larger room and 2 small bedrooms with 1 single bed and one with a bunk bed and is therefore suitable for up to 4 people. The outside terrace is 18 m2 and has a BBQ area. There is electric heating, toilet, shower and sauna. The freezer and sauna are shared with the adjacent Gaddstugan.

Härbräet
This older house has character and appearance and has 75 m2. It is suitable for 6 persons and is located on the peninsula Vrigstad Gård. It is 150 metres from the lake and has a beautiful view. The house dates from 1900 and has been renovated in original style. There are two bedrooms, a living room with TV, fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, freezer, microwave and dishwasher. In the basement there is a large sauna with 2 showers. The house is electrically heated and there is an outdoor terrace of 20 m2 with BBQ area.

Hönshuset
With 72 m2, 4 bedrooms each with 2 beds can accommodate up to 8 people. The kitchen is spacious and contains fridge, freezer and microwave. There is a separate shower with toilet and access to the sauna in the basement of Rättarebostad. It is 180 metres from the water and has garden furniture and a BBQ area.

Rättarebostaden
This beautiful house has 170 m2 and can accommodate 12 people. Ideal for 2 or 3 families or a private fishing club. It is located near the reception and has 2 floors, 7 bedrooms, spacious living room, kitchen with fridge and freezer, microwave and dishwasher, 3 bathrooms each with shower / toilet and wood stove in the living room as well as a TV with DVD and radio. In the basement is a sauna, washing machine and dryer. The terrace is 15 m2 and has garden furniture and a BBQ area. There is a private jetty by the lake.

Vrigstad Gård
This house is spacious with 200 m2 and can accommodate 12 people in 6 bedrooms. If necessary, two extra beds can be placed to increase the maximum number of guests to 14. The view over the lake is phenomenal with a spacious garden and a distance to the lake of 150 metres. The house was originally built in 1900 and still breathes the atmosphere of Pippy Longstocking. The two bathrooms have been renovated. The living room has TV and a fireplace and you can use the sauna in the neighbouring house Rättarebostaden. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and freezer. The terrace is 20 m2 and has garden furniture and a BBQ area and there is a private jetty by the lake.

Farmorstugan
The house is beautifully situated on the Vrigstad peninsula, which lies west of the main island Getnö. It is in a secluded area and is surrounded by woods and a garden with old stone walls. It is a typical Swedish red cottage with white framed windows. It is the perfect house for guests looking for peace and quiet, surrounded by beautiful scenery, tranquillity and, if you are lucky, wildlife. Distance to the lake and private swimming and boating is about 150m. Farmorstugan has 2 floors, 140m² in size, 5 rooms and a kitchen, hall and bathroom. Electrical installation; fridge & freezer, cooker with oven, coffee machine, microwave. The house is suitable for up to 7 persons. There is an outdoor terrace with a 10m² roof, barbecue and campfire place.
