We have fished here many years, many times and we know the region, the spots and the conditions like the back of our hand. The region is known for the large quantity of fish and in particular halibut. There are many platforms here which, in combination with the large tidal differences, provide ideal conditions for halibut. Every year, several halibut are caught here above 2 metres. But coalfish, wolffish and cod are also very well present here. Certainly also because the island is surrounded by platforms that are ideal for halibut but further offshore there are perfect drop offs where the cod and coalfish like to stay in large shoals. For lovers of large schools of plaice it is also well worthwhile to visit Trollvika bay with its sandy bottom and actively chase these magnificent fish.

The various islands in the region such as Masoy, Hjelmsoya and Rolvsoya are teeming with platforms where large halibut are regularly caught. But the bays of these islands also offer good opportunities for targeted fishing for halibut. In addition to the large amount of plateaus, there are also drop offs here where you can target large cod and coalfish. There are also wolffish, haddock and redfish. In recent years, this location has developed into a top spot where halibut is caught in a targeted, frequent and regular manner and it is therefore recommended to make reservations early. Preferably a year in advance.

On the northern part of the island of Rolvsoya, on the small island of Fruholmen, you will find the northernmost lighthouse in Europe. For those who have fished in this location know that you will never forget this place and its overwhelming nature. It is also very well possible to descend to the south and fish around Skipsholmen and Austergrunnen. But also north of Havoysund, the Akkarfjord and the Kjerkenesgrunnen are waiting for you. All in all this is a fantastic fishing area where it is extremely likely that you are going to beat your personal records.

In Havoysund we have 2 houses of which the largest is suitable for up to 8 people.

House 2

House 2 provides 100 m2 of space and 3 bedrooms, each with two single beds, for up to 6 people. It has a cosy living room with SAT TV and Wi-Fi and also a large spacious bathroom that was completely renovated in the spring of 2018. Furthermore, a fully equipped kitchen with 4 burner stove and oven, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, kettle, coffee maker and dishwasher. There is also a possibility to freeze self-caught fish. The house is located 50 meters from the harbour.

House 3

House 3 is located directly opposite the harbour and the boathouse. It offers 85 m2 for 4 people with 3 bedrooms, one with a single bed, one with a king-size bed and one with a double bed. There is a separate shower with toilet and a cosy living room with sofa bed, SAT TV, Wi-Fi and dining area, there is also an open kitchen which is fully equipped with a 4 burner stove and oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, kettle, coffee maker and dishwasher. When the weather is nice, you can enjoy the view on the terrace in front of the house. There is also a possibility to freeze self-caught fish.

At the harbour there is a separate sheltered filleting area with running water and you can also store your fish clothes in a separate heated drying room so they are warm and dry the next day for the new fishing adventure. For all houses bed linen and a set of towels, water, electricity and final cleaning are included.

At this location, we have five spacious 6.5-metre-long Quicksilver Pilothouse fishing boats with 100 HP engines. The boats are equipped with Lowrance or Simrad GPS/fishfinder and have a high level of safety. The boats are also equipped with the necessary life jackets, a first aid kit and emergency signals. The petrol tank holds 130 litres and there is a compass and fire extinguisher on board. A very nice feature is that this boat has a cabin, so you can sit or stand sheltered from the weather while sailing.

The boats offer a high level of sailing comfort and the engines are powerful yet economical. From 2024, a larger and more comfortable fishing boat will also be available. This is a 24-foot aluminium cabin boat with a 175 HP engine and Lowrance HDS 12 GPS/fish finder. This boat can be exchanged for a regular Quicksilver Pilothouse at an additional cost of € 795.

Very handy! You can rent a bucket of artificial bait here so you don't have to lug it all around yourself. Any equipment you lose must be paid for on site. A bucket with a wide selection of shads and pilkers can be rented for NOK 500 per week.

To get to the location, the best alternative is for us to provide you with a spacious hire car that will easily accommodate your group and your equipment. The cost of a hire car is approximately € 500,- to € 600,- for the entire period.

A deposit of NOK 9,000 or €1,000 per boat is required on site. This will of course be returned to you at the end of your fishing week if the boat is returned in good condition. This deposit and any additional costs must be paid in cash on site.

You can hire a fishing guide on site. The fishing guide with the guide boat (excluding fuel) costs € 500,- per day. It is also possible to take the guide on board your own boat if there are 3 or fewer people per boat. The cost of this is expected to be around € 250,- per day in 2026.

The changeover day at this location is flexible, so you can also stay for 8, 10 or more days. However, the booking periods must coincide with other bookings.

The journey there takes one day without an extra overnight stay, and you will find yourself in a truly unique location. No crowds of other anglers, but beautiful apartments with views of the fjord, good boats and the very best fishing! And all this for prices that are very reasonable for this type of prime location.

We work with SAS and Norwegian to reach this destination where we can arrange 2 x 23 kilos of luggage per person. Together with the 8 kilos of hand luggage this means 54 kilos of luggage pp. At the SAS, the rod tube is just part of the regular baggage and therefore costs nothing extra. The costs of these flights are around 500 euro pp.

To refuel by boat you can go to the marina of Havoysund where a fuel station for boats is available and where you can refuel 24 hours a day with credit card.

Additional costs are personal care, fuel for the boat and any rental car and tips on site. The costs for the deposit are to be paid in cash on the spot and can be paid in euro or NOK.
